  18.        The following problem occurs in ov:  The Ctrl+H accelerator
  19.        to hide the application menubar doesn't work.  To work
  20.        around this, use the mouse pointer to select the Overview
  21.        menu then the Hide Menubar item.

  27.        The following problem occurs in iconcatalog:  When the
  28.        language is changed in ipanel, and the user logs out and
  29.        logs back in, the icons in the iconcatalog may appear tiny.
  30.        To work around this, use the iconcatalog thumbwheel to scale
  31.        the icons back to desired size.  (Iconcatalog is accessible
  32.        from the Find toolchest, as Icon Catalog, or as any of its
  33.        individual pages [ex., Applications].)

  40.        The following problems occur in the file manager:

  42.        1. In IRIX 6.5.4, the Content Viewer in iconviews does not
  43.        display HTML pages with embedded VRML content, because it is
  44.        incompatible with cosmoplayer version 2.1.  To work around
  45.        this, open the HTML page into your favorite Web browser
  46.        (ex., Netscape) instead.
  47.  
  48.        2. When the language is changed in ipanel, and the user logs
  49.        out and logs back in, the icons on the background and in
  50.        iconviews (dirviews, URLviews, or FTPviews) may appear tiny.
  51.        To work around this, use the thumbwheel to scale icons back
  52.        to the desired size.  For iconviews, use the thumbwheel
  53.        located on the left side of the iconview window.  For the
  54.        desktop, use the thumbwheel on the Desktop customization
  55.        panel launched from the Desktop Customize toolchest.

  57.        3. If you get icons with no pictures, you need to become
  58.        root, cd to /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_f_i_l_e_t_y_p_e, and run make.

  74.        4. The file manager fails to move or copy (drag and drop)
  75.        onto a ddddoooossss media, any files whose mode of access is greater
  76.        than 0777 (see _c_h_m_o_d(_1)).  For example, you cannot copy a
  77.        file with 04755 (set user ID) access mode permissions, onto
  78.        a dos-formatted media from the file manager.  To work around
  79.        this problem, change the file's access mode to less than or
  80.        equal to 0777 (see _c_h_m_o_d(_1)).

  84.        5.4  _M_e_d_i_a_M_a_i_l

  87.        The following problem occurs when using MediaMail for IRIX
  88.        6.2 on an IRIX 6.3, 6.4, or 6.5 system:  MediaMail will
  89.        complain that it cannot find the colors OOOOzzzzCCCCllllttttnnnnPPPPaaaannnneeeellllCCCCoooolllloooorrrr or
  90.        OOOOzzzzRRRReeeeaaaaddddOOOOnnnnllllyyyyCCCCoooolllloooorrrr, which are obsolete in IRIX 6.3 and later
  91.        releases. To silence these complaints, edit your
  92.        $_H_O_M_E/._S_g_i_r_e_s_o_u_r_c_e_s file and add this line:

  103.        colors in the file, and change OOOOzzzz to IIIImmmmdddd.  Relaunch
  104.        MediaMail to see the changes.

  108.        5.5  _T_o_o_l_c_h_e_s_t

  111.        The following problems occur in the toolchest:

  113.        1. When running a remote toolchest, the menu items under
  114.        Find Icon Catalog are all local entries. The programs do not
  115.        run on the remote system.
  116.  
  117.        2. When trying to use the Internet toolchest to Browse
  118.        OutBox Page, it's possible to get an error from your Web
  119.        browser.  This can occur if your local host does not have a
  120.        Web server installed, or if its Web server is not running.
  121.  
  122.        If this happens, you can see if you have the _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k
  123.        product installed by typing vvvveeeerrrrssssiiiioooonnnnssss nnnnssss____ffffaaaassssttttttttrrrraaaacccckkkk in a Unix
  124.        shell window.  If no subsystems are listed, then you need to

  141.        Applications CD. You may also want to install the _n_s__a_d_m_i_n
  142.        product, which is used to configure the FastTrack server.
  143.        You can use the graphical Software Manager tool _s_w_m_g_r(_1_M) to
  144.        do this.

  146.        If you already have the _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k product installed, then
  147.        you can check if the FastTrack server is running by typing
  148.        ppppssss ----eeeeffff |||| ggggrrrreeeepppp hhhhttttttttppppdddd in a shell window. If you see nothing
  149.        listed, or if you see only output with the string "/usr/ns-
  150.        home/httpd-2077/config", then your default Web server may
  151.        not be running. To restart it, type (as root)

  154.        You may want the Web server to start automatically each time
  155.        the host is rebooted. You can check if it is already
  156.        configured for automatic restart by typing cccchhhhkkkkccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg and
  157.        looking for the _n_s__a_d_m_i_n and _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k lines.  If the
  158.        status is _o_f_f then the server will not run automatically
  159.        upon reboot. To change this configuration, type cccchhhhkkkkccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg

  172.        Search Tool features are no longer available in IRIX 6.3,
  173.        6.4 or 6.5. There are no right-mouse menu, no Selected menu,
  174.        and no searching for people, hosts, or devices.  (The Search
  175.        Tool is accessible from the Find toolchest, as Search for
  176.        Files.)

  179.        5.7  _C_u_s_t_o_m_i_z_a_t_i_o_n__P_a_n_e_l_s

  182.        The following problems occur in the customize panels:

  184.        1.  If the line "export test=1" appears in your

  189.        toggle on the Desktop panel, the "export test=1" line can
  190.        prevent you from running applications on a remote system and

  217.        5.8  _O_u_t_p_u_t__M_a_n_a_g_e_r

  220.        The following problems occur in the output manager
  221.        (outputd):  Killing _o_u_t_p_u_t_d will cause any application that
  222.        was launched while _o_u_t_p_u_t_d was running to die if it tries to
  223.        produce any output.  (The Output Manager is controlled from
  224.        the Desktop > Customize > Desktop > Display Application
  225.        Errors toggle.)
